Southwest airlines are one of the largest and most popular airlines in United States. It is also known for its cheaper air tickets compared to the other airlines across States. Earlier Southwest Ai was known as Air southwest Co, on 29 March 1971 the name was changed to Southwest Airlines Co. Founder of Southwest airlines was Herb Kelleher and was introduced on 18 June 1971. Many experiments have been done on these airlines by its founder to make this airlines success. This airline has always thought about providing their clients a comfortable journey that is the reason they are so much popular, they ponder over in a very different way than their competitors as they always thing of making more and more money where as Southwest Ai is not as much greedy like them. The main motive of this airline is to take their clients to their destinations at the lowest fares in lesser time. Currently Southwest airlines serve around 60 cities in 31 states with the passengers travelling around 71 million.

Newest services that came for rescue to the passengers of Southwest Airlines were introduced in November 2008. They purchased 14 slots for 7 roundtrips daily and its use was previously made by ATA Airlines. After one month of period their bid was approved and during March 2009 the progress was made. Finally on 28 June 2009, the airline was success in serving passengers at LaGuardia Airport and was very confident about the growth of LGA. The airline is planning to serve international passengers and is working on this project. After the completion of AirTran Airways, southwest will be able to serve their international passengers directly as they are not able to do currently. Presently Southwest is in agreement with the other airlines that connect to the international destinations. It has been reported that during the mid of 2012, Southwest airlines will be able to serve their international passengers by AirTran.

The tactics and strategies used by Southwest Airlines are very much different compared to other airlines; they do not use the traditional “spoke and hub” routing systems of flight as most of the other airlines does instead of “point 2 point” system. When talking about the accidents and incidents that take place due to some technical faults or because of bad weather, the name comes of Southwest Airways that has not had lead to any loss of life, on any of its planes.
